Inscribed by author on f.f.e.p. to Revd McElwaine(?) and family. ‘This is rather a tale of war but there are some bright spots. M. F. O’Dwyer, Xmas 1935’. O’Dwyer, Governor of the Punjab, was seen by many as responsible for the Amritsar Massacre in April, 1919. He was assassinated by Udham Singh in London in March 1940
