The Tailor and Ansty by Eric Cross. First edition. A very controversial book in its day banned by the censor ‘because of its depiction of premarital cohabitation, and its sexual frankness’. No dust-jacket. Also a collection of “The Tailor’s” stories in Irish as collected by Sean Ó Cróinín ‘Seanchas an Táilliúra’ (Mercier, 1978) along with ‘The Irish of West Muskerry’ by Brian Ó Cúiv (1944), a study of the Irish dialect in the Gougane Barra area of County Cork, where the Tailor and his wife lived.
