Very scarce Carlow item: The Reign of Terror in Carlow, comprising an authentic detail of the proceedings of Mr O’Connell and His Followers from the period of his invading that county, down to the first of September [1840]. Also, A Narrative of the Sufferings of the Electors, who were beaten, carried away, and imprisoned in Kilkenny (London, 1841). This work deals with Daniel O’Connell’s unsuccessful attempt to have his candidate elected in Carlow, detailing, according to the anonymous author, the exertions of the O’Connellites and the Roman Catholic Clergy to thwart the Conservatives
