Petrie, George Christian Inscriptions in the Irish Language. Dublin, 1872 & 1878 2 vols. (bound in one) first edition, about 300 pages of text and 131 plates, mostly tinted lithographs and a few real photo prints, engraved illustrations throughout, well bound in half black morocco, spine gilt decorated and lettered, neat stamp on reverse of title page showing this was sold as a duplicate by Queen’s University of Belfast in 1911. The plates in vol. 2 a bit confusing as plate 52 was cancelled and 3 extra a or b plate numbers were added. This copy complete. Important and rare..Hammer: €300

Cert on inside front cover giving details of prize to Maxwell Cullinan for Grammatical Hebrew studies; letter tipped in from Cullinan at Harmony House TCD to a cousin, Mrs Gibbons 1860 giving the book to her.
