Estate of F Hastings Toone, Esq of Ballincor. Bound set of detailed maps consisting of Tipperary (Title Page) Hand coloured County map with Index to the townland survey, drawn under the supervision of Captain Lurcom, 1845. Sheet 1 surveyed 1840 by Major Waters and Lieutenant Wilkinson, manuscript date Feb 46 with initials. Sheet 2- 21 also surveyed by Major Waters and Lieutenant Wilkinson. Each sheet has a manuscript date from 1843 - 1845 all initialed (initials unknown); Kings County (Title Page), and coloured map of index to the townland survey of Kings County. Sheets 36 --47 surveyed 1838 by either Major Waters, Captain Lancey and Lieutenant Wilkins or Major Waters and Lieutenant Wilkinson and Lieutenant Broughton. Each sheet has a manuscript date from 1840 - 1845 all initialed (initials unknown). Cork (Title Page) Hand coloured map of index to the townland survey of the County of Cork. sheet 53 surveyed 1841 by Captain Tucker & Rimington and Lieutenant Lyster. Sheet 54 surveyed 1842 by Major Waters, Captain Tucker and Lieutenant James. Sheet 6 Surveyed 1842 by Major Waters and Lieutenant Stace, partially hand coloured showing 'Farm held by Henry Vowell Wrixon Esq Blossomfort Ballyclough Mallow, called Aughrim' This is hand written top right. Manuscript dates 1845 ( initialed); Index to the Townland survey of County Meath- hand coloured map with Index to the townland survey of County Meath, surveyed 1837 by Sergeant West, dated and initialed, 1845; Dublin hand coloured map with index of the town land survey of the County of Dublin. .Seamus Heaney. The Spirit Level. 1996. 1st. Loosely inserted is a typed full page letter, signed, from Seamus Heaney thanking the recipient for his suggestions regarding a title for book (above). However Heaney, states "I have an inclination to call it The Flaggy Shore which is the name of a place in Co. Clare mentioned in one of the poems but also it has a nice double meaning, I think that "Flaggy" can mean either stony or hung with flags. So There y'are" "Seamus Heaney". In fact when this work was published the following year the poet called it "The Spirit Level" and The Flaggy Shore or Postscript was the final poem in the book. With the enclosed letter included, this represents the ultimate association copy. Rare.

One of just 520 copies signed by the illustrator Arthur Rackham, plain illustrations and 16 tipped-in colour plates by Arthur Rackham, captioned tissue-guards, publisher's vellum-backed boards, decorated in gilt with gilt titling and decoration to spine. Phil Lynott - Songs for While I’m Away. Limited Edition, published by Pippen Publishers, 1974. Rare hardcover edition in original publisher’s black cloth boards, lettered in gilt. Inscribed by Phil Lynott to the front end page. [ To Mim, “Woman with Blue Eyes” Love xx. Phil.] Note laid in by the former owner who received this from Phil Lynott after he walked her home from a pub. The note says that the inscription wasn’t faded, the pen ran out when Phil was inscribing it to her. Although not in the note she also said to the present owner of this book that Phil was a perfect gentleman. Phil Lynott also wrote his then London address and the apartment’s phone number to one of the rear blank end pages.

George Moore: Esther Waters: A Novel. Original manuscript of Chapters 31-33. Written on rectos of 41 leaves of blue-ruled machine laid paper with substantial corrections and emendations; headed 'Chapter 21' and foliated 1-21, 21-36, 39-41. Published in the 1894 first edition. The manuscript shows Moore's characteristically intense rewriting. Ester Waters, which sold 24,000 copies within a year and made the author a celebrity overnight, is Moore's greatest novel and cornerstone of Modern Realism

Oliver St. John. Wild Apples. Cuala Press, Dublin,1930. Original linen over grey-blue mottled boards, title on frayed printed label on spine and printed in black on upper cover. Trace of old stain on lower board bottom left, corners a little bumped. Edition limited to 250 copies only. Exceptional presentation inscription on front free endpaper: “To my friend Mrs. Phillimore / of Kilmacurragh / from Oliver Gogarty / Dublin 16 April / 1930. Also neat pencil marginal notation in French under “Syracuse” poem by Gogarty. A newspaper or magazine clipping of Gogarty’s poem, ‘In Memoriam’ of his friend Arthur Russell, Soldier and Airman’, has been pasted on to p. 30. With his long poem ‘The Dublin and Galway’ Train pasted between the rear endpapers. This copy is inscribed by Oliver Gogarty to Mrs. Lucy Phillimore (nee Fitzpatrick). Phillimore was a wealthy novelist who leased the famous house and gardens of Kilmacurragh in Wicklow in the 1920s. W B Yeats and Lucy Phillimore famously rowed during his visit there, [McCormack: 'Blood Kindred'] Kilmacurragh was known for its gardens and arboretum and has more recently become the National Botanic Gardens of Ireland.
